A scythe peening anvil is a tool designed for quick peening of scythes and sickles. It is used in the maintenance of a scythe blade when its sharpness needs to be restored by hand peening.
The anvil is equipped with a pointed spike that is driven into the ground or a wooden surface, stabilising the tool during use. Peening is carried out by striking the blade — laid on the anvil face of the tool — with a hammer. The length of the tool is 11.5 cm.
The anvil is suitable for use in everyday agricultural and gardening work wherever a scythe or sickle is used and a whetstone or grinder is not available.
