A basic electrode with a diameter of 2.5 mm and a length of 300 mm is designed for welding stainless steels of the 24Cr13Ni type and for joining dissimilar steels. It is also used for transition layers when overlaying stainless steel onto an unalloyed base. For this size, the indicated current is 50 to 80 A with the electrode on the positive pole of a DC source. The interpass temperature should remain below 150 °C.
